The figa or Fist is a protective amulet, generally made of jet and used especially to protect against the Evil Eye, although it is also very useful to defend against other evils. Jet is a fossil material of plant origin that is located in a few places on the planet. The one that appears in the region of La Marina de Villaviciosa (Asturias), formed in the Jurassic, is considered one of the best quality in the world. Exploited for thousands of years, and due to its relative scarcity and the intense and shiny black color it acquires once polished, it was considered a magical and protective substance, and is therefore highly appreciated.
