It is a figure that has been represented since the Neolithic era and of which images have been found throughout Europe and Asia Minor. It is a solar symbol formed by three arms united at a central point.

The curved shape of its arms transmits a sensation of rotating movement, surely trying to imitate the movement that was formerly believed to make the Sun.

Precisely this relationship with the sun gives it a protective aspect that is possibly the reason why it appears decorating weapons, funerary steles and other objects. It is also known by the name Swastika.

The arms of the Trisquel can go indifferently to the left or to the right and symbolize the union of three fundamental elements of the Celtic Universe: Earth, Water and Air.
