This resin is extracted from the Balsamodendron Mukul tree, which grows very prolifically in South Asia, touching the Himalayas, from Myanmar in eastern India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Its wood, by the way, is highly valued for its hardness and quality and its seeds and fruits are used to make vegetable oil and grease for lamps. Guggle is an aromatic resin with a Myrrh-like aroma and is frequently used in perfumery, as well as in Ayurvedic, where it is highly valued.
In Hindu ceremonies it is also highly appreciated. In the esoteric field it is used for protection, triumph and strength.
