Copal is a plant resin obtained from the Bursera tree. Currently, the technique to extract said resin varies depending on the product to be obtained. This incense was already used in pre-Hispanic times but it was known by the name "copal quáhitl" and was used to undo spells, carry out purifications in some places and also to promote love relationships (ceremonies).
Copal is recognized by its amber color, its fruity flavor and its pleasant, characteristic and appreciated smell, which can be mixed with essences and aromatic oils. It can be easily combined with alcohol to obtain perfumes.
The most common uses are for protection, cleansing and ritual enhancement.
